Goodbye friends
by Freeandclear ini'm not killing myself lol i just wanted to say a short goodbye.
i'm not leaving forever, i'm sure i'll pop in here and there but for the most part i haven't felt the need to check in here as often as i used to so i thought i'd say so long.
this journey we're all on (life) and trying to make sense of it all is a very personal one.

Best wishes Freeandclear. Enjoy the rest of your journey.
As I am still connected by a fraying thread to this despicable & demon-inspired cult, I'll continue to discuss and post topics which I hope will help someone to see that the WTBTS/CCJW is nothing more than a modern-day combine - the equivalent of the Pharisees in Bible times, who existed purely for power, control, & money.

Good point, Smiddy!
hp chap. 16 p. 158 pars. 23-24 A Government to Bring Earth-wide Peace - "However, those who will rule in God’s kingdom are very different from worldly rulers...........Under all sorts of trials and temptations, they have adhered to what is right and just. (and Christ didn't?) They gain God’s confidence, so can we not have confidence in them? (nope - on both counts) Also, their having been humans will enable them to understand and sympathize with us. (Wasn't Christ a human??????) They know what it means to be tired, worried, discouraged. They know the effort needed to become more patient, kind and merciful. (and Christ didn't????) And some of them were women; they understand the feelings and special needs of women on earth."
(Hebrews 4:15,16) "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tested in all respects as we have, but without sin. Let us, then, approach the throne (not 'thrones') of undeserved kindness with freeness of speech, so that we may receive mercy and find undeserved kindness to help us at the right time."

(Hebrews 1:1-9) "Long ago God spoke to our forefathers by means of the prophets on many occasions and in many ways. 2 Now at the end of these days he has spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things. 3 He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power. And after he had made a purification for our sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4 So he has become better than the angels to the extent that he has inherited a name more excellent than theirs. 5 For example, to which one of the angels did God ever say: “You are my son; today I have become your father”? And again: “I will become his father, and he will become my son”? 6 But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: “And let all of God’s angels do obeisance to him.” 7 Also, he says about the angels: “He makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.” 8 But about the Son, he says: “God is your throne forever and ever, and the scepter of your Kingdom is the scepter of uprightness. 9 You loved righteousness, and you hated lawlessness. That is why God, your God, anointed you with the oil of exultation more than your companions.”

So sorry to hear about your mother's evil treatment of you. In reality, she needs a lot more pity, because she has lost all sense of what it means to be a human being - let alone a mother.

How the Org Shows/Teaches "Charity"
by The Searcher infrom the latest watchtower, may 2017, page 6, paragraph 15 - "more than material assistance, refugees need spiritual and emotional support.".
that makes sense doesn't it!
isn't that what the good samaritan did, he preached to the injured man who was in dire need of physical assistance?

What finally helped you to peek behind the curtain
by UnshackleTheChains ini'm interested in finding out what it was that finally enabled you to open your eyes to the real truth of watchtower.
what started me thinking, was the societys very own book...' 'revelation..it's grand climax at hand'.
i found that book farcicle.

The "new" scrolls fallacy, quickly followed by the anti-Christ teaching that Romans 6:7 is literal and means that a person's own death wipes out their sins.
I've groaned as I've listened to seemingly intelligent J.W.'s try to explain how 'acquitted' doesn't actually mean totally free & guiltless!

by Confusedandangry inhi everyone i don't even know where to begin.
i recently saw leah remini's series on scientology thanks to my husband (semi-active jw) and i felt like my eyes were being opened for the 1st time in my adult life.

Welcome Confusedandangry. The feelings you have are shared by many of us here, especially, "How could I have been so blind and not see through the scam?"
The good news is that you have awakened. Your task now is to take things slowly and learn to be "cautious & innocent." Don't give the "executioners" any information which they could/would use against you.
As "mature faders" ourselves, my wife and I have established our own set of rules, and the elders cannot cross the lines drawn. Take time to do some research, and carefully prepare your answers when others attempt to get information out of you. Here are a couple things which I hope will help you on your journey.

https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5748999109738496/what-org-teaches-1-dealing-sinners
Keep researching and try to stay restrained when you feel that the J.W.'s around you should know the truth. It's hard to keep quiet, but it will save you a lot of grief if you do!

The J.W.'s greatest and undeniable problem with "spiritually weak ones?"
They cannot and dare not acknowledge any statements which put the org/G.B. in a negative light - especially scriptural evidence!
Their minds are not conditioned to deal with hitherto unrecognised facts. The implications are too great to face.

A Beard Maverick
by EyesOpenHeartBroken inso i went to the kh for the first time in a month, and the first brother in our congregation has grown a full beard.
i am in a western u.s. semi-rural area in a cong with an extremely conservative and controlling elder body.
oddly enough, it seemed like people were going out of their way to converse with him and act like they didn't notice the beard or they complimented the beard.

I was recently delighted to hear two things: after an M.S. in my previous congregation had his "privilege" of position removed (due to his child dating a "non-believer") the ex-M.S. very quickly grew a full-face beard.
Knowing the little-Napoleons in his K.H., they will be seething! :)
